It's a bit chilly!

I remember as a child we would sometimes stay at Grandma's house and on those cold, chilly Winter nights, she would tuck us into a warm bed that had been heated with a hot water bottle covered with a beautifully hand knitted covering with the coziest of wools.

In Winter time, Mum would make our beds with the snugness and warmth of flanelette sheets and extra layers of blankets.
Nowadays, I still have our bed and Miss Twinkle Toes' cot made up with flanelette sheets,
but the warmth of the coziest hot water bottles have been replaced with
the coziest litlte hot water bottles of all,

and they never go cold!!

So Winston & Max pay their way through life again and are continuing to earn their keep.

I wonder which one will want to sleep with Miss Twinkle Toes when she is in her own little bed?

Passing on favourite childhood memories

This post was inspired by the gorgeous Lauren from Homemade by Lauren. Lauren had been writing about some beautiful times with her boys watching one of her favourite childhood TV shows.

I started to think about the things that I enjoyed from my childhood and what I wanted to share with Miss Twinkle Toes.

So many magical memories come to mind. I grew up with to other sisters. One older, one younger. There were some things we liked to do alone and other things that were so much fun to share with a sister. All very dependent on who was being nice to each other on the day.

Here are a few of my favourites to pass on...

I can't wait to build lego cities that come to life with little hands and big imaginations....
I can't wait until I show her the thrill of bouncing high into the sky on a trampoline and feeling the air under your feet...
I can't wait to share the joy of solving puzzles together (and the frustration of realising there are missing pieces) that take days, weeks, months to complete.
I can't wait to laugh at how funny the Sooty & Sweep Show is!
I can't wait to introduce her to neighbourhood kids so that they can play for hours on end in the cubby house until their mums call them home for dinner.
I can't wait for her to play backyard cricket with her Daddy and see the pride in his eyes of sharing with her something he enjoys so much.
There are so many memories and pastimes to share. I can't list them all but would love to know,

What childhood memories of yours you would like to pass on to your children or future children?

In the Night Garden

It's a strange little show but Miss Twinkle Toes loves it.

She has her Iggle Piggle and turns around to give me the biggest smiles when she hears the beautiful twinkle music at the start of the show.

Mummy only bought the small version of Iggle Piggle, he has now lost his blanket but is kept warm all night with lots of snuggles (when he isnt thrown from the cot.

I now have to avoid the Iggle Piggles in the toy sections at stores as someone knows that there are better ones out there that sing and move after I made the mistake of once showing her.

Amazing that she remembers!

Yesterday we decided to spend some time in our night garden, during the day! The afternoon sun was glorious as it warmed us from the cold Winter air and gave us opportunities to explore our garden. My little one looked like an angel sent from Heaven as the sun gave her that magical glow.

Miss Twinkle Toes decided to go on a collecting stones mission.

Look at those curls!

It seems that she is following in the path of Makka Pakka (one of the show's characters) who has a stone obsession! I really do wonder about the creators of these shows and what they were doing (or taking) when writing scripts.

For your info, this is Makka Pakka.
He lives in a stone house and puts stacks of stones on top of each other.
His sleep toy is a stone...
Wonder if he will end up being a stoner?  LOL!

It also seems that yesterday there was a bit of role reversal with the little Twinkle toes and paw padded fur babies.

Ashlyn decided to close the door behind her and then wondered why Winston & Max were on the inside looking out when it is normally Miss Twinkle Toes on the other side.
I think they were wondering the same thing.

I hope that everyone else is enjoying their weekend.

Until next times adventures....

Reasons to adopt a dog

Life is full of choices...
Cereal or toast?
1 sugar or 2 in the morning coffee?
Daily newspaper or latest gossip mag?
Clean the house or watch Bold & the Beautiful?

Who am I kidding????
Those are the choices I use to make before Miss Twinkle Toes became part of my world!

It's now more like should we...
Play inside or outside?
Trash the lounge room or trash the bedroom?
Watch Play School or In the Night Garden?

People have often asked me If people were to ask me,
"Why should I adopt a dog?"
I would reply,
"This choice to adopt a dog can be made simply by reflecting on the following reasons."

See if one of these little paw padded puppies would suit your lifestyle.
If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him and never say its not quite as good as his mother's...
Then adopt a dog.

If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour, for as long and wherever you want ...
Then adopt a dog.

If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't care about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies...
Then adopt a dog.

If you want someone who is content to get on your bed just to warm your feet and whom you can push off if he snores...
Then adopt a dog.

If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you unconditionally, perpetually ...
Then adopt a dog.

BUT..

On the other hand, if you want someone who will...

Never come when you call,
Ignores you totally when you come home,
Leaves hair all over the place,
Walks all over you,
Runs around all night and only comes home to eat and sleep,
AND
acts as if your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness...

Then I'm sure you know what you have to do.

Do I really need to tell you?

You probably have it figured out by now...

You may even have one at home already...

Just save yourself the trouble and

adopt a cat!
And you thought I was going to say marry a man...

I can't take full credit for this, although I did find all of the gorgeous puppies and can endorse the reasons above as to why you should adopt a dog.

Fur Baby Max celebrates his 3rd birthday!

Max.

Today is his birthday. He is 3 human years old.

We didn't think he would make it past his 1st birthday so we are so happy that he is celebrating being 3.

I like to celebrate my fur babies birthdays with their favourite meal. They get a special birthday dinner and celebrate their day with their best mates.

Max's 1st Birthday
Max's 2nd Birthday. Celebrated with Winston & Ashlyn.
Dinner- 2 steak cupcakes each (not for 3mth old Ashlyn though)
Max's 3rd Birthday! Celebrated with Winston & Ashlyn
Main course: Steak all round!
And yes my fur babies are that well trained that they will not touch their food until they are given the go ahead.
The Birthday Fur Boy - Max.

Check out these fur babies birthday celebrations.

How do you celebrate your fur babies birthdays?
Maybe you don't at all. That's okay. I am sure they know they are loved.

Rain - stay & play OR go away?

It seems like it has been raining forever where I live and the forecast says more rain.

All of this rain turns our house into a laundromat with clothes hanging everywhere trying to dry (we really should have invested in a dryer instead of that plasma), Our dogs go stir crazy as they sit and stare out the window wondering when their next walk will be. The house turns into 'Toy Central' as every toy in the house seems to be pulled out, played with and then discarded like it is yesterday's newspaper. The television seems to be on more than usual (Ah that's why we invested in the plasma and not the dryer). Getting out of the house with a child becomes Mission Impossible when your child insists that they wish to walk on their twinkle toes instead of being carried quickly to the car.

However there are many things that are beautiful about rain. Like the smell of rain on freshly cut grass. The way it washes away the dirt on the car you haven't washed for 6 months. The soothing sound of rain falling on rooftops, lulling little twinkle toes and their mums and dads into the land of sleep. It brings families together as they sit and watch the rain fall from the comfort of their warm, toasty home. The rainbows that come out after the rain and the fresh start it gives to all it has fallen upon. Splashing gumboots get to come out to play. What fun they are!

And boy did my Little twinkle toes have fun in her gumboots!
